PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape cartridge which can prevent the advance of dust, etc., and can prevent the erroneous insertion of the tape cartridge to a driver. SOLUTION: This tape cartridge has a cartridge body 2, a tape reel 10 which has a reel hub 24 to be wound with a magnetic tape 9 and a flange 35 disposed at the end of the reel hub 24 and formed with engaging teeth 27a in the outer peripheral part and is disposed within the cartridge body 2, a reel lock member 11 which prevents the floating of the tape reel 10 by engaging with the engaging teeth 27a of the flange 25, a reel lock releasing member advance groove 8 which opens the insertion end side of the cartridge body 2 to the driver at least in one side face of the insertion direction to the driver and into which a reel lock releasing member 17 for releasing the engagement of the reel lock 11 on the driver side and the flange 25 is advanced and a shutter member 12 which closes the reel lock releasing member advance groove 8 and releases the engagement of the reel lock 11 and the flange 25 by being made to abut on the reel lock 11 and being thrust to the reel lock releasing member 17.
