摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fog observation device and a fog observation method capable of acquiring a highly accurate observation result and a prediction result of fog, by utilizing wide area observability and three-dimensional observability which are characteristics of a meteorological radar device, and by adding also acquired information by a meteorological observation apparatus or the like except the meteorological radar device. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with a characteristic quantity calculation means for calculating plural characteristic quantities for showing the characteristics of meteorological particles in the air based on a reflected wave received by the meteorological radar emitting an electromagnetic wave in the air, a fog determination means for distributing the characteristic quantities calculated by the characteristic quantity calculation means to each type of the meteorological state, and determining whether the fog is generated in the air or not based on the type the meteorological state wherein the distributed characteristic quantities are most concentrated, and a fog generation state classification means for classifying the fog generation state based on the determination result by the fog determination means and the characteristic quantities calculated by the characteristic quantity calculation means.
