PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate stable pressure side damping force in an intermediate speed region, and improve even responsiveness of the pressure side damping force when a compression/extension stroke is switched. SOLUTION: In a hydraulic shock absorber 10 provided with a pressure side damping force generator (base valve device 50), the pressure side damping force generator 50 is provided with a low speed flow path 71 having a reducing valve 81, an intermediate speed flow path 72 having a pressure side sub-disc valve 82, a high speed flow path 73 having a pressure side main disc valve 83, and an extension side flow path 74 having an extension side check valve 84, in a partition member 60 partitioning a piston side oil chamber 31B and an oil reservoir chamber 52, the low speed flow path 71, the intermediate speed flow path 72, the high speed flow path 73, and the extension side flow path 74, made to directly branch respectively from the side of the piston side oil chamber 31B, are arranged in parallel to each other. |
