PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the seizure resisting performance of an iron sulfide based film deposited by an aqueous solution electrolytic process under a high facial pressure. SOLUTION: In the method for depositing the iron sulfide based film having excellent slidability, an iron based material is subjected to anodic electrolysis in an aqueous solution containing tervalent iron ions, a chelating agent and a sulfur compound, so that a film consisting substantially of iron sulfide is electrolytically deposited on the surface of the iron based material.
