PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for calculating belt tension distribution of a push block type metal V belt for CVT by an assembly of a push block type metal V-belt by bringing an assembly of a push block type metal belt assembly into a model. SOLUTION: Modeling is effected such that a block group forms a rigid body and a ring forms a string. The string is divided into a plurality of string pieces i+n to calculate a tensile tension Te, and by using the calculating value in an initial value, friction distribution fi of each of string pieces caused to occur by at least one of a block group is calculated (from S10 to S20). Based on a calculated friction force of each of the string pieces calculated, tension distribution Fi is calculated (from S22 to S24). Repetition is effected until a change amountΔF sum is within an allowable value. When it reaches the allowable value, a ring tension Ti is calculated based on an average value Favg of a tension (S26 and S28).
