PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide active alumina particles and a producing method thereof which are inexpensive in production cost and are improved in the performance for removing negative ions such as adsorption capacity and adsorption rate. SOLUTION: This producing method of active alumina particles to which an acid component is adhered features that the acid treatment and the particle formation are performed in the same process by adding an acidic solution to the powdery active alumina having rehydration capability and forming active alumina particles. Further, in this active alumina particles for removing harmful ions in water to which the acid component is adhered on the particle formation, concentration distribution of the adhered acid component in the particles is uniform and the pore volume of the particles of which the pore radius measured by the mercury penetration method is 1.8 nm-100μm is >=0.15 cm3/g.
