MULTI-STAGE PARKING FACILITY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a parking facility capable of overcoming the malfunction due to a front fence during the opening operation. SOLUTION: This multi-stage parking facility is provided with the front fence 4 disposed in an entrance of a garage and operated upward to open, a first optical sensor 6 disposed outside the front fence 4 for detecting foreign matter, and a control device 7 for stopping the operation of the front fence 4 according to a signal from the first optical sensor 6. The control device 7 is adapted to stop the operation of the front fence 4 except the case where the front fence 4 is in a second control range when the first optical sensor 6 detects foreign matter in the opening and closing operation of the front fence 4. The second control range is the range of position of the front fence in which the interference of the front fence 4 and a vehicle caused by advancing of the vehicle into the parking apparatus 1 is not easily judged from a driver's seat of the vehicle.
