PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify and miniaturize the constitution of a tripod type constant velocity universal joint for regulating the moving amount of cages to the half of the moving amount of guide blocks. SOLUTION: Raceway grooves 3 and 8 are provided on both sides of the guide blocks 6 supported by leg shafts 5 of a tripod member 4 and on side surfaces of outer ring track grooves 2. A plurality of rolling elements 9 incorporated between the raceway grooves 3 and 8 are held by the cages 10 and the cages 10 on both sides of the guide blocks 6 are connected by a connecting plate 13. Pairs of inclined grooves 21a, 21b and 22a, 22b inclined each other in opposite directions are provided on internal surfaces 11 of outer walls of the outer ring track grooves 2 and outside surfaces 12 of the guide blocks 6. Balls 23 stored in intersecting parts of the pairs of inclined grooves 21a, 21b and 22a 22b are movably supported so as to be movable together with the cages 10 by the connecting plate 13.
