PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide manganese-containing lithium compound oxide of lamellar rock-salt structure and a lithium secondary battery using the same as positive electrode material. SOLUTION: In this manganese-containing lithium compound oxide of lamellar rock-salt structure of which the composition formula is expressed by Li1+aMnxAlyNizO2, a lithium compound oxide which consists essentially of Mn in such a manner that a>=-0.1 and <=0.2, x+y+z=1-a, x>=0.4 and <=0.6, y>=0.1 and <=0.3 and z>=0.2 and <=0.4.
