PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron beam acceleration device and an electron beam acceleration method that can accelerate electron beams with small fluctuation of time and stability and can relax the output power stability of the high frequency power source for generating high frequency electromagnetic field of the electron beam acceleration means, and reduce the power cost. SOLUTION: The electron beam acceleration device comprises a beam position monitor 7 for detecting the position of electron beams, a computer 8 that calculates the slippage of the beam position by the detected beam position and calculates the necessary amount of frequency change based on it, a synthesizer 9 that generates a high frequency reference signal based on the above frequency change amount, a high frequency power source 10 that amplifies the high frequency reference signal generated as above, a coupler 13 applying the above amplified high frequency field on the RF cavity 2, a pick-up 14 that makes sampling of the high frequency field from the RF cavity 2, a voltage/phase difference measuring device 11 that measures the voltage difference and phase difference between the high frequency field and the amplified high frequency field, and a tuner controller 12 that, by driving a tuner 6 based on the phase difference, feed-back controls so that the frequency of the high frequency reference signal and the resonance frequency of the RF cavity 2 may coincide. Thereby, acceleration that uses a high frequency power source having low output stability becomes possible.
