PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a long time reproduction of an image with uniform image quality, to downsize a device, and to increase a processing rate. SOLUTION: A pickup 2 reproduces data recorded on an optical disk 1 and coded at a variable rate. These data are stored in ring buffer memory 5 at a prescribed input rate, and when a data storage of the ring buffer memory 5 exceeds a prescribed reference value, track jump of the pickup 2 is performed. In the cases that the track jump of the pickup 2 is performed and the interleaving of the data stored once in the ring buffer memory 5 is decoded, a control circuit 6 controls reading and writing pointers to the ring buffer memory 5, and it reads the data having decoded the interleaving, and supplies them to a decoding part 20 at an output rate of the input rate or less.
