PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper carrying direction changing device and a gluing bookbinding device capable of correctly changing the direction of a paper sheet, improving bookbinding finished quality of a paper bundle by secure application of glue, and achieving excellent practicability by compactness and simplicity of the device. SOLUTION: In the paper carrying direction changing device 20, a paper sheet S being carried is held by a paper rotating means 26 facing it, and the paper sheet S is rotated by 90 deg, the rotation angular speed of the paper sheet S is changeable in accordance with the size of the paper sheet S.
