The invention relates to a device for aligning sheet-like material (5), particularly bank notes, consisting of an alignment line (10) along which said sheet-like material (5) is conveyed, and means of alignment (12) which move the sheet-like material (5) into a specified position and/or direction of travel. The aim of the invention is to enable reliable and trouble-free alignment of the sheet-like material (5). As a result, the alignment line (10) is curved in the direction of movement (1) of the sheet-like material. A sheet (4) which is conveyed in a specific direction of movement (1) along side alignment line (10) follows the curvature in the direction of movement (1) and becomes bent in itself. Said curvature increases the rigidity of the sheets (5) in comparison with the flat position. When sheets are aligned in the inventive device, even those with high limpness exhibit enough stability to prevent them from becoming deformed or folded during the alignment process, thereby guaranteeing reliable and trouble-free alignment of sheet-like material.
