The system includes a gas separator (22) connected to the external energy source (12) between it and the wheel brake cylinder (24), from which a de-gassing line (59), in which a de-gassing valve (56) is included, leads to a brake fluid storage tank (30). For de-gassing, the de-gassing valve is opened briefly. A gas sensor (58) detects any gas being blown into the brake fluid.
