PURPOSE: A system for indexing a document and a method thereof are provided to obtain a search result rapidly and exactly by generating index information comprising a specific keyword and a URL address list including the keyword, distributing the information to a plurality of computers connected to a communication network, and performing an index according to concepts based on each index information in each computer. CONSTITUTION: A host computer(100) creates index information using a basic document and keyword information(s10). At this time, the host computer(100) creates a specific keyword and index information including a URL for indicating positions of many documents including the keyword, and the index information is distributed to guest computers(200,s20). The guest computers(200) create a document list according to concepts based on the received index information, sort the list(s30), and transmit the list to the host computer(100,s40). The host computer(100) resorts and integrally manages the document lists received from each guest computer(200,s50).
