A pump trouble diagnosing device for hydraulic drive device capable of automatically performing the trouble diagnosis of a hydraulic pump when a working machine is operating and also detecting a trouble when the power limiting control of the hydraulic pump is defective, wherein the power limiting control is performed by a controller (50) for a plurality of variable displacement hydraulic pumps (1 to 6), measurement units (21 to 26) having pressure sensors (221a) and displacement sensors (221b) are installed in the discharge lines of the hydraulic pumps (1 to 6) and, by the controller (50), a pump discharge pressure to maximize a pump discharge flow and a pump discharge flow at that pressure are measured for each hydraulic pump when the hydraulic drive device is operating based on the detected values to collect the measurements as trouble diagnosis data, a target pump discharge flow for power limiting control corresponding to the collected pump discharge pressure is calculated for each hydraulic pump, and the calculated flow is compared with the collected pump discharge flow to judge whether the hydraulic pump is troubled or not.
