PREPARATION OF PARTICLES BY HYDROLYZING A METAL CATION IN THE PRESENCE OF A POLYMER, RESULTING PARTICLES AND USES THEREOF

The invention concerns a method for preparing particles comprising at least a metal ion, including the following steps: a) preparing a solution or an aqueous dispersion of at least a precursor containing a metal cation; b) optionally partly hydrolyzing of said precursor; c) contacting the precursor derived from step a) or the partly hydrolyzed precursor derived from step b), with at least a water-soluble comb polymer comprising either a complexing anionic skeleton and stabilising hydrophilic side-chains, or at least a stabilising neutral skeleton and complexing anionic hydrophilic side-chains, or at least one of two said polymers, associated with at least a complexing anionic hydrophilic polymer; d) partly or completely hydrolyzing the product obtained at step c). The invention also concerns particles obtainable by said inventive method, said particles having an average size ranging between 2 and 500 nm and preferably between 2 and 300 nm. The invention further concerns the use of such particles for mechanical polishing of hard objects, in preparing pigments, mixed ceramics for electronics, for reinforcing polymeric matrices, in fungicidal or biocidal dispersions, for capturing sulphured derivatives, for capturing bad odours.
