The invention relates to a method for producing bis(trifluoromethyl)imido salts of general formula (I): [M<a+>] <->[N(CF3)2]a, by reacting a trifluoromethane sulfonate of general formula (II), (M<a+>)[(OSO2CF3)<->]a, in which M<a+> is a monovalent or bivalent cation and a = 1 or 2, with bis(trifluoromethyl)imido rubidium.
