The device has a display tube (2) with a display unit arranged in the tube. The tube has an inner shell (22) and an outer shell (21) joined to the inner shell by a latching hook joint (43). Hooks are arranged on the inner side of the outer shell and lugs are arranged on the outer side of the inner shell to receive the hooks. A front ring (24) is arranged on the end of the display tube facing the observer.
