PURPOSE: Provided is a human protooncogene which is a novel gene having no homology with reported protooncogenes before and can be used for cancer diagnosis, transformed animal preparation and anti-sense gene therapy. Also, a protein encoded thereby is provided. CONSTITUTION: The novel human protooncogene, human cervical cancer protooncogene 3(HCC-3) has a nucleotide sequence represented by the SEQ ID NO:1 and having a length of 1170 bp. It also has an amino acid sequence represented by the SEQ ID NO:2. A transformant, E. coli DH5a/HCC-3(KCTC 0896BP) is prepared by using a vector containing the above protooncogene or its fragments.
