The invention relates to a method for the billing of costs, incurred for a temporary connection of two subscribers via a communications network, in particular a telephone network, said network linking a multitude of connected subscribers. According to said method, an individual network identifier is allocated to a subscriber connection and a first subscriber (originator) dials up a second subscriber (addressee) to establish a connection using the identifier of the second subscriber. The method comprises the following steps: a) after dial-up, the network identifier of the addressee is automatically recorded (online) by means of a computer connected to the network, b) the costs incurred during the connection are calculated and c) at least one part of the costs is billed to the addressee, who is identified by his or her network identifier.
