PURPOSE: A flat color cathode ray tube and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to simplify manufacture process by removing grinding process for making height of a mask support and a panel uniform. CONSTITUTION: A flat color cathode ray tube comprises a panel, a mask support(30) and a shadow mask. The mask support(30) is formed as short and long rails at the boundary of the inner surface of the panel. The shadow mask is welded to the mask support(30) for discriminating color of an electron beam from an electron gun. The rails(30) is made of metal having SUS446. At a first rolling step, roughness is formed at a shadow mask attaching surfaces of the rails(30) by a first roller. The roughness formed rails(30) are attached to the panel with frit glass. At a second rolling step, the height of the attached rails(30) are made as uniform to adjust Q value. After Q adjustment, the shadow mask is mounted on the rails(30).
