The invention concerns a method for reinforcing a ground electrode (3) for an internal combustion engine spark plug. The method consists in resistance welding of a noble alloy element (12) on the inner surface (11) of the ground electrode (3), then in welding said element (12) with a pulsed laser beam, the beam being directed towards the outer surface (13) of the ground electrode, substantially in a zone opposite to the ground electrode inner surface whereon said element is resistance welded.
