The device has a ferrous fluid (3) arranged between the bearer element (1) and the counter element (2) as the displacement element whose outer shape is defined by the magnetic field lines of at least one magnetic element (4). The magnetic field strength of the magnetic element(s) is adjusted to set the distance between the bearer and counter elements. Independent claims are also included for the following: a bearing for low friction deflection of a body mounted on a counter element and a multidimensional adjuster with at least two orthogonal inventive devices.
