Grid elements (2) are fixed to the posts (1) of a fence by means of holding devices (3, 4). Said holding devices (3, 4) comprise a base element (3) which is fixed to the fence posts (1) by means of a fixing element (5) engaging in a receiver opening (1a) of the fence post (1), said base element also comprising support areas (3a) for horizontally extending grid bars (2a) of the grid element (2). The holding devices (3, 4) also comprise locking elements (4) which are fixed to the base element (3), overlapping the same (3) and vertical bars (2b) of the grid element (2). Said locking element (4) comprises elastically deformable regions (4a; 4b) which are designed to grip, in a locking manner, behind the corresponding regions (3b) of the base element (3).
