PURPOSE: A damper is provided to obtain large damping force even in lightweight and small vehicles, to omit sealing for leakage prevention, and to exclude concerning for abrasion. An automobile seat has the damper being capable of slimming, obtaining the large damping force, and being suitable for the seat being projected as a backrest is folded. CONSTITUTION: A damper for an automobile seat is composed of silicone-based unvulcanized rubber(4) interposed between a housing(2) and a shaft(3) which are disposed to be relatively rotated about an axis A in the direction of R with respect to each other. Rotational energy between the housing and the shaft is absorbed through the deformation of the silicone-based unvulcanized rubber.
