DISPLAY DEVICE AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE SAME

PURPOSE: A display device and a method of controlling the same are provided to allow a user to arbitrarily set an area within an image of a display unit and freely adjust brightness. CONSTITUTION: A display device includes a signal generator(11) for generating a video signal, and a display unit(30) for displaying an image based on the video signal generated by the signal generator. The display device further includes a setting part(3) and a controller(13). The setting part has an area setting part(5) for setting an arbitrary area within the image of the display unit, a size adjustment part(7) for adjusting the size of the set area, and a signal controller(9) for selecting a display state in the set area. The controller generates a signal corresponding to the set area based on the select value of the signal controller and controls the signal to be combined with the video signal to be displayed in the set area.
