1515627 Refuse containers DORNIER SYSTEM GmbH 10 Sept 1976 [23 Dec 1975] 37632/76 Heading A4A [Also in Division B8] Refuse containers 10 Fig. 3a are sub-divided into several chambers 30a, 30b, 30c and are offered to a vehicle 2 Fig. 1 whose storage compartment 48, 49, 50 is sub-divided into chambers having inlets to correspond to the openings of the container. As shown, the container comprises partitions 29, 30 adjustably positioned in grooves Fig. 3d (not shown) in the container walls to give chambers 30a, 30b, 30c of a chosen size. Paper and glass refuse may be selectively put into the two outer chambers while general waste may be placed in the central chamber 30b. The two outer chambers may be defined by gratings 106 which allow inspection of the contents and discourage the items of general waste, smaller in size, being placed in the outer chambers in error. The vehicle 2 comprises a mechanism (not disclosed) for offering the containers (two at a time if desired) to filling apertures 13, 14 in receiving apparatus 5 at the rear of the vehicle. Each filling aperture is divided by partitions (20, 21) into three openings 16, 17, 18 corresponding to those of the container. Baffles Fig. 4b (not shown) guide the separate streams of refuse into the storage compartments 48, 49, 50, the refuse being moved by two sets of shovels 42, 43, 44 and 53, 54, 55. The baffles (22, 23) may be moved with hydraulic rams (31, 31') to re-direct the refuse stream into an alternative compartment and the partitions (46, 47) longitudinally dividing the vehicle into the storage compartments may be adjusted to alter the relative size of the compartments. Pressing plates (60, 61, 62) are provided to compress the refuse in each compartment and finally Fig. 5 (not shown) to eject the refuse from the vehicle, the plates Fig. 6 (not shown) being adjustable in size to match adjustments made to the compartments. An aperture (120) is provided for hand-loading bulky items (cartons) into the vehicle. |
