PURPOSE: An electric vehicle brake system is provided to achieve improved stability and efficiency, while lengthening useful life of battery and mechanical brake device and save energy. CONSTITUTION: An electric vehicle brake system comprises a regenerative braking force control unit for receiving a signal from a brake pedal and information on the battery state and motor rotation speed, and calculating regenerative braking force; a torque converter for receiving information on the mechanical brake torque from the regenerative braking force control unit, and operating the brake through a brake controller; and an inverter for transducing the DC power of battery into an electric power required for rotating the motor, and generating a regenerative braking force of motor in accordance with the information on the regenerative braking force received from the regenerative braking force control unit.
