Lifting and lowering mechanism for a ballast tamping unit

The mechanism (14) ensures the rise/fall movement of the packing head (4) in a rail track packing unit. The mechanism comprises a vertical hydraulic actuator (15) with one end articulated (18) to the unit chassis (1) and the other end articulated to an intermediate point (20) of a connecting rod (16). One end of the connecting rod is articulated (22) to a crank (17) and the other end is articulated (21) to the packing head support (3) which is itself mounted on a linear vertical guide (2). There is also an activator travel amplifier (C1).
