The invention relates to a method for producing catalysts by the acid activation of sheet silicates and by covering them with catalytically active metal ions. The acid activation is performed in the presence of the catalytically active metal ions and the solution which results from the acid activation together with the residual solution which contains the excess catalytically active cations are separated. The catalysts can be used for proton and Lewisacid catalysed reactions, in particular for reacting superior olefins with aromatic hydroxy compounds and amines, for esterification and dehydration reactions and for the purification of aromatics. |
