SOLUTION: In this tea ridge striding and traveling type tea reaping apparatus 1 in which the traveling direction of the apparatus can be controlled according to the situation of a tea ridge T detected by a tea ridge sensor 6, the apparatus is characterized in that the tea ridge sensor 6 comprises revolving shafts 62 which are connected to sensor units 61 and equipped with the detection plates 60 to be brought into contact with the tea ridge T and when the exchange operation of the tea reaping machine units 3 is carried out, the detection plates 60 can be retreated from a space required for the exchange operation.
