PRINTER AND PRINTING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a printer in which control processing is executed depending on an ink ribbon and a print medium being loaded. SOLUTION: Information inherent to an ink ribbon 40 being loaded to a printer is read out from a first storage means 42 provided integrally with the loaded ink ribbon 40 and information inherent to a print medium 45 being loaded to the printer is read out from a second storage means 47 provided integrally with the loaded print medium 45. Various kinds of information concerning to the ink ribbon 40 and the print medium 45 being loaded to the printer can be obtained by executing control processing depending on the information thus read out and control processing can be executed depending on the ink ribbon 40 and the print medium 45 being loaded to the printer.
