PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an upright type vacuum cleaner in which the constitution of a cleaner body is simplified and the degree of freedom of design is increased by forming a handle at the upper part of a dust collecting part and using the handle also as the handle for carrying the cleaner body. SOLUTION: This upright type vacuum cleaner is provided with a suction tool body, the cleaner body supported so as to freely swing to the suction tool body, the dust collecting part freely attachably and detachably mounted on the cleaner body, and a mounting mechanism of the dust collecting part and the cleaner body. At the upper part of the dust collecting part, the handle used when mounting the dust collecting part to the cleaner body and detaching it from the cleaner body, with which the cleaner body can be carried when the dust collecting part and the cleaner body are mounted is formed.
