PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing L-cysteine, creating a coryne bacterium having an L-cysteine-producing ability and then using the bacterium. SOLUTION: This method for producing the L-cysteine comprises creating a coryne form bacterium in which the activity of serine acetyltransferase is enhanced, preferably further a coryne form bacterium in which an L-cysteine decomposition system is inhibited, by transforming with a gene encoding the serine acetyltransferase, modifying the expression-adjusting sequence of a gene to increase the expression of the gene encoding serine acetyltransferase in the cell, or the like, culturing the created bacterium in a culture medium to produce and accumulate the L-cysteine in the culture product, and then collecting the L-cysteine from the culture product. |
