The large baling press has a compression chamber housing which is split into two halves, one of which is fixed while the other can be pivoted about a horizontal pivot axis to form the outlet. There is an operating device to swivel the movable housing half. To compress the crop into a bale, the pivotable housing half (10b) can be pivoted partly above the fixed housing half (10a) in overlapping manner. The pivotable housing half has the inlet (18).
