PURPOSE:To provide the process for production of the metallic carrier having necessary and sufficient strength in the contact parts between the flat foil and corrugated foil constituting a honeycomb body or the joined parts between an outside cylinder and the honeycomb body in joining of the honeycomb body itself and the honeycomb body to the outside cylinder. CONSTITUTION:A diffusion joining accelerator is stuck to the prescribed parts of the flat foil 8 or the corrugated foil 5 to form the honeycomb body 9 and the honeycomb body 9 is built into the outside cylinder 10 or only the honeycomb body 9 is heat treated in a non-oxidative atmosphere and the flat foil 8 and the corrugated foil 5 are joined. The joining accelerator may be stuck to the prescribed parts within the honeycomb body after the formation of the honeycomb body and is further stuck to the prescribed parts on the inside surface of the outside cylinder or the outside surface of the honeycomb body 9; thereafter, the honeycomb body 9 is inserted into the outside cylinder 10 and the outside cylinder 10 and the honeycomb body 9 are integrated and joined. |
