Ropes or belts are provided with simple visual means for observing their state of wear. A reference or marker yarn, of lower elasticity at break than the other yarns, is incorporated on the surface of the textile structure. The marker yarns indicate to the user whether the article is still safe to use and whether it still retains its shock-resistant properties. Used for Mooring ropes, tow ropes, haulage ropes, slings, mountaineering and cave exploration ropes, and safety belts for motor cars.
