The invention relates to a bistable device for manoeuvring in translation a movable spindle (16) between an initial position and a projecting position. Said device comprises an outer frame (10) with a coil (66) and a core (46) that moves in translation under the force of the magnetic field generated by said coil, which can drive said movable spindle in translation and hold it in the initial and final positions. The inventive device is characterised in that the core (46) is provided with different diameters; a large diameter for the shaft (50) that can drive the movable spindle in translation and a small diameter for the shaft (48) that can hold the movable spindle in one of the two positions.
