PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a rate of occurrence of a recording error when recording by using a system of either a CAV(Constant Angular Velocity) or a CLV(Constant Linear Velocity). SOLUTION: This optical disk recording and reproducing device compares a value corresponding to a laser power supplied from a monitor diode of an optical pickup with the value showing the target laser power with an error detection circuit 33, and the error with the target value is outputted to a changeover switch 34. The changeover switch 34 switches a low pass filter to be connected when the CAV system is used for recording and when CLV system is used for recording. A low pass filter 35 used when recording with the CAV system is the filter having a time constant smaller than that of a low pass filter 36 used when recording with the CLV system. Accordingly, a servo gain of a servo loop when recording with the CAV system is smaller than the servo gain of the servo loop when recording with the CLV system, and as a result, laser power smoothly varies. |
