ERROR CORRECTION ENCODER AND METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a conventional error correction encoder cannot transmit a smooth moving picture because there are many disregarded frames up to error correction on the occurrence of a decoding error. SOLUTION: In a conventional error correction encoding method, when a decoder detects an error, the decoder transmits a correction request to an encoder, and the encoder receiving the request applies in-screen encoding to the next input frame received from an image input terminal 1 to realize the error correction. Upon the receipt of an in-screen encoding request, an encoding control circuit 9 of the encoder of this invention switches SW1, 2, 3 and applies in-screen encoding not to an image received from the image input terminal 1 but to a reference image stored in a frame memory 8 to conduct error correction.
