PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electroluminescence display having aλ/4 wave length plate capable of attainingλ/4 in a wide band of the whole visible radiation area, preventing the reflection of a background, excellent in an image display characteristic, and excellent in mass productivity and performance stability. SOLUTION: This electroluminescence display is provided with at least a light reflecting electrode, a light emitting layer, a transparent electrode, a 1/4 wave length plate, and a circular polarization plate having a linear polarization film, and is characterized in that the 1/4 wave length plate is composed of a single layer, and a retardation value Re (λ) in a wave lengthλhas a characteristic of Re (450)<Re (550)<Re (650). The 1/4 wave length plate is desirably a mode composed of a composition including an admixture including a positive material and a negative material in a intrinsic birefringence value or a copolymer (desirably, a graft copolymer) having a chain part for indicating positive optical uniaxiality and a chain part for indicating negative optical uniaxiality in intrinsic birefringence.
