PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dedicated short-range communication method of mobile communication units where position information can be exchanged between vehicles and one vehicle can automatically recognize other vehicle that approaches the one vehicle while the one vehicle is driven. SOLUTION: An automobile 1 is provided with 6 DSRC(Dedicated Short-Range Communication) communication units 2a-2f that are placed at four corners and left and right sides of the automobile to form a rectangular communication area 18 around the automobile 1, display devices 4a-4d, a position detector 5 that detects its own position, and CCD cameras 7a-7d that photograph surrounding scenes. The method sets communication ID codes that impart priority number to respective vehicles. When the communication units 2a-2f transmit a communication frame to a pilot slot to which a communication frame equivalent to a 1st digit value of the code corresponds and no collision exists, the units transmit data to the corresponding communication slot. When collision exists, the communication units 2a-2f transmit a communication frame to a recovery slot to which a communication frame equivalent to a 2nd digit value of the code corresponds to decide the assignment of the communication slot. The position information is sent/received even among a plurality of vehicles by sure communication free from interference, displayed on the display devices and the automobile 1 discriminates a close distance and can issue a warning or the like.
