PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make effective data readable even in the case of a magnetic medium with a small number of 'zero' bits which are continuously written in the head of the magnetic medium. SOLUTION: The magnetic stripe reading system is provided with a magnetic stripe reader part 12 for generating and outputting a serial signal obtained by converting magnetic stripe data into electric data, a clock signal which indicates the fetching timing of data in the serial signal, a medium running signal to be outputted before the clock signal and an interpolation clock signal to be outputted before the medium running signal, a selecting circuit 11 for outputting the clock signal when the medium running signal is effective and the interpolation clock signal when the medium running signal is ineffective as a correction clock signal and a synchronization control part 13 for adopting the correction clock signal as the serial signal data fetching timing, taking out data from the serial data and converting it into a parallel signal.
