PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video/audio processor and a video/audio processing method, which record/reproduce video and audio information in a recording medium on real time basis and input/output accompanied information of a video and audio in the same recording medium without damaging recording and reproducing buffers. SOLUTION: When the recording request of accompanied information is given, a recording buffer occupation rate measuring means 7 measures an idle area in a recording buffer memory 4. A recording control means 9 determines whether the recording buffer memory 4 is full of inputted video and sound information while accompanied information which is requested to be recorded by the recording control means 9 is recorded in the recording medium 1. Only when the recording buffer memory 4 is determined not to overflow, accompanied information is recorded in the recording medium 1. Thus, accompanied information on video and audio information can be recorded without damaging the real time record of video and audio information.
