PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic component mounting method capable of shortening a time required for operations for picking components up and enhancing productivity. SOLUTION: In an electronic component mounting method, electronic components are picked up by a transfer head 3 provided with three unit transfer heads from a tray 25, which is stacked in multistage in a magazine 21 of a tray feeder to be mounted. Component positional data, which indicates the position in the magazine 21 of electronic components is stored in a part position storage part, according to a storage address to be decided based on an arrangement order in a vertical direction of the tray 25 in the magazine 21. In a pickup step by the transfer head 3, if electronic components are picked up by the one unit transfer head, the position of the electronic component to be next picked up is retrieved starting from the storage address of this electronic component. Thus, the time required for a series of operations for picking parts up can be shortened.
