FLAT PANEL DISPLAY AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE DISPLAY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrict an interval between both substrates to a specified value by surely disposing a column member body between two sheets of substrates positioned at a large interval so as to be connected to each other. SOLUTION: A large number of glass fibers are bound together and cut out to specified lengths, and a magnetic material magnetized in reversed polarities are fitted to one and the other ends thereof. The bundles of the glass fibers are unbound, and dispersed on the substrates. A uniform field is applied to the surface of the substrates in the direction orthogonal thereto, the glass fibers are arranged along the field, and one end and the other end are fixed to the inner surface of two sheets of substrates.
