PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel frequency-adapting negative voltage generator. SOLUTION: The negative voltage generator for an integrated circuit is provided with a charge pump 10, that responds to a current load of an output terminal. The charge pump 10 is connected with a controller 20, that compares the output node of the charge pump 10 with a reference potential. The controller 20 supplies a frequency-variable oscillator 30 with analog output signals, and the oscillator 30 supplies control signals for the charge pump 10. Even the current load is changed, the controller 20 varies the output so as to cope with appropriate changes in the frequency of the oscillator 30.
