PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document management system for classifying document files, and for registering and managing those document files in a data base, capable of efficiently registering the attribute information formats or attribute contents of the document files, and reducing the labor of a user even at the time of temporarily moving or copying the registered document files to the other classification. SOLUTION: This document management system is provided with a type extracting part 200 for extracting the document type of a document belonging to a folder designated by a document designating part 100 from the folder type of the folder, a document type setting part 400 for setting the information of the document designated by the document designating part 100 in the document type extracted by the type extracting part 200, and a document registering part 500 for adding the document type set by the document type setting part 400 to the document designated by the document setting part 100 as attribute information, and for registering the document in a document storage part 510. Thus, it is possible to add the attribute information to the newly registered document.
