PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data recorder capable of properly restarting writing of data to an optical disk after an interruption of a data recording operation. SOLUTION: The data inputted into the data recorder from the outside are encoded by an encoder 20 via a buffer memory 10. Then these data are recorded on an optical disk 1 by outputting a laser having an output corresponding to the encoded data from an optical head 40. When a shock arises in the data recorder during this recording operation, a shock detection signal is inputted to an interruption/restart part 101 from a shock detecting part 100. Based on this, the recording operation is interrupted according to the interruption signal outputted from the interruption/restart part 101, and a counter value in the encoder 20 at that time is stored by an address memory 95. The restart of recording is performed based on the value outputted from the address memory 95.
